Here We Go

To mark the official first day of It’s Great To Be Home, I thought I’d give you a quick peek at the very first thing I did after closing on our home:

Let me tell you, that gold, flocked wallpaper couldn’t jump off the wall fast enough!!  Gold fuzz has no place on a wall in the 21st century, even though I’m sure it was all the rage in 1968 when this house was built.

What was the first thing you were dying to ditch in your house??

First, let me say, I love this website! It’s so fun and you guys are so creative!

As for what I was dying to ditch at our house – when we bought the house, everything was white – the walls, the carpet, the appliances! I couldn’t wait to bring in some color! I painted the kitchen, dining room and living room as soon as I could!

Tonya, thanks for checking out the site!! And I totally agree with you – painting is the fastest and easiest way to put your own personal stamp on your home. And stay tuned – I’ll be updating the site soon to give you the inside scoop on the paint colors we used in our house!!

This is awesome! So how did you decide on the gold fuzz over the astroturf?? It must have been a tough call. I am definitely looking forward to tips on how to add color to the house. Paint can be scary! :)

I’m with you! Wallpaper was a definite must to come down first. My house was built in the 70s, so it came fully equipped with very flowery, bright yellow and blue wallpaper (dont forget about the bright yellow countertop in the hall bathroom to match the wallpaper – horrific!)
