Hi! I came across your blog via this young house. Amazing job on your house!! My husband and I bought a house about a year and a half ago and we immediately redid our kitchen. We love our sink and it's technically a two bowl, but it's a cast iron sink from Kohler that has a "smart divide" so the middle divider is about half the height of a normal one. I love it! We still get the two sides for wash and rinse, but pan handles and cookie sheets fit so well in it!
the link below is for the one we have, only ours is an undermount, so it doesn'thave the faucet attached.

Leslie,

Ahhh, so jealous of your hot water dispenser!! We seriously debated getting one while we were redoing our kitchen. So convenient - hot chocolate at a moment's notice!!

I'm with your hubby (and you) on this one - I love your sink! I can't believe how big it is! What a great addition to your reno!

My favorite thing in our current kitchen (in a rented loft) is our granite topped island. It has two electrical outlets, so we can cook and food process our hearts out on it :-)

Oh Liz that is so funny - I should have read the previous comments before writing mine. Upon first glance I thought that your mom's nickname WAS #1Mom and I thought to myself, oh how cute! haha!

I'm a one bowler, envious of your undermount sink. Sigh.
My favorite appliance has to be our fridge - side by side, with a water and CRUSHED ICE dispenser. I LOVE crushed ice. It makes me feel like a kid. When I'm dieting and thus not drinking as much vino as I want, I pour some diet pepsi (okay - not the healthiest thing in the world, but I love it) in a glass over crushed ice and I don't miss the wine, as much. But my favorite things in our kitchen are our collection of photos my husband has taken on our various trips, and our Welsh Spoons. :) Great article - loved it, as usual.

Sounds like your parents' sink is a lot like my parents' -- I will never understand why anyone in the 80s wanted three bowls, with the smallest having the disposal!

That said, I am completely envious of your sink. I have a double bowl in our patio home and we NEVER use the non-disposal side. So pointless.

Mom,

I know, I am totally heartless. :) However, I do have to give your sink kudos for making it through 20+ years of abuse and still looking pretty darn awesome. And thanks - I'm a big fan of the sink, too (and the husband!!).

~ Liz

P.S. I like that your name shows up as "#1 mom" - so true!!

Ah, the sting of an ungrateful child!

However, I totally agree with your sink assessment. When we finally make the move to a smaller home, our choice will be your deep undermount sink with only one bowl. Also, we can bathe our mini-dachshunds in the sink!
Lizzie, you make great choices in both the sink and husband categories.
