Something’s Afoot
We live in an older home (40 years old, to be exact) with equally old windows – so it can get pretty cold in here in the winter time. And you see, we have wood floors in our bedroom that we absolutely love, but they can give you quite a shock first thing in the morning when your bare feet hit those cold floors. If you’ve checked out our home tour then you know that our bedroom looks like this:
It was with memories of hardwood floors and freezing feet that the hubby and I hit up our local Home Depot with a mission – finding an area rug for our bedroom. We had an idea of what we wanted – something neutral that would go with our colorful duvet cover that we currently have on our bed, as well as our navy and cream quilt that sometimes makes an appearance and replaces the duvet. We definitely needed an 8 x 10 rug so that there would be enough rug to stick out from under three sides of our king-sized bed, and we wanted the new rug to be cozy – no more cold tootsies for us!!
And then we found it. Perfection. A cream-colored frieze rug that was just begging to go home with us:
Ain’t she a beauty? And a bargain to boot! (Although now we’re gnashing our teeth because it’s gone on sale!) We somehow managed to shove this ginormous rug into my car, took it home and finagled that rug under the bed as fast as we could. And let me tell you, lifting that bed is no joke! Here’s our awesome new rug, looking all cozy in our bedroom:
I love it! This rug has tons of texture and is super soft, so it feels great underfoot. And I love the way it breaks up all the wood in the room, but doesn’t steal the show away from the bed. And no more cold feet for us!
What’s the first thing your feet hit in the morning? Carpet? Wood? Tile? Rug on carpet? Do tell!

Oh that is a nice looking rug – it looks great in your room. Love those floors too!
We have an area rug at the foot of our bed, between our bed and dressers. Matt likes to expose as much of the wood floors as possible – so his side of the bed doesn’t have a rug, but I have a nice soft fluffy flokati rug on my side and I love walking on it!
That rug really warms up the room! It also makes your furniture pop! We have carpet in all the bedrooms – that’s the first thing my feet hit in the am!
It looks great! We have hardwood floors as well and centered our rug underneath also. I hated the fact that most of my rug was “wasted” under our bed, but oh well, it’s warm on the tootsies!
The rug is a very cozy addition to your MB. We once had a MB with hardwood floors and I will never forget the coldness. We currently have carpet. It is such a shame though, we are renting our house and there is hardwood throughout the whole house that is covered up with carpet.
Looks great! The lighter rug works beautifully with the dark wood floors and furniture; great contrast.
We have pine floors throughout the house and currently don’t have a rug under the bed (though we do have a runner in the bedroom as well as a 5×8 rug under the chairs in our “seating area”). Given the amount of morning sun our room gets, I actually prefer the cool floors about 10 months out of the year!
The rug looks beautiful in the room! Those hardwoods are absolutely gorgeous!
Ooooh, that rug is so cozy wozy. Dang that it went on sale – will they credit you the difference?
We have carpet in our bedroom, much to my chagrin, cause hubster didn’t want hardwood on a second story bedroom for fear of footstep noise below but I would LOVE to have your floors in my master.
Love the rug!! Excellent choice!
It’s perfect!! See if you can take your receipt back and get the difference on the sale price! ;)
Whoops! I seem to have made the mistake of tossing out the receipt about a ZILLION times. :) Once I know I like it, out the receipt goes – and now I’ve learned my lesson!! Ah well . . . I’m glad you guys like the rug as much as I do!!

What a fab rug! And I adore your room!! It looks just so inviting. Is that bedspread from Pottery Barn?
Kristina,
Good eye!! It’s the “Serafina” duvet cover from Pottery Barn – I love all the colors, they make me happy! My husband wasn’t sure about it at first, but he’s come around. :)
