Care For A Fry(e), Anyone?

Bueller?  Oh, I’m sorry – I got a little distracted.

You see, it appears that the famous house from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is on the market.  You know, the one where Ferris’ best friend Cameron Frye accidentally shoots his dad’s Ferrari backwards into a ravine??  Yeah, that’s the one.

I know, I’m experiencing flashbacks, too – I can’t even imagine how many times I watched this awesome movie during slumber parties while I was growing up.  Ahh, the memories!

But I digress – let’s get back to that awesome house.  Here are a few pics of the 5,300 square foot, cantilevered, contemporary steel home in Chicago’s schmancy Highland Park neighborhood that could be yours (along with a little piece of history) for a mere $2.3 million:

Drooling yet?  I know I am – that view is ridiculous.  And not only is this contemporary home famous for being featured in the 80’s cult classic, it’s also highly revered for being designed by renowned architects A. James Speyer and David Haid.  Not too shabby, heh?

Okay, enough about that house – I need an estimate of how many times you watched Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (hopefully it’s really high so that my 1,000,000 viewings seems a little more normal . . . ).  Okay, go!!

It seemed like every time I was at home sick during school, Bueller was on TV. I can’t count how many times I watched this movie! TBS must have played it every day for at least 10 years.

That is too awesome! I LOVE that movie! I know I watched it at least 100 times (and that’s a conservative estimate)! The house is so awesome – makes me want to move to Chicago – and wind the lottery :-) What a fun post! Thanks!!!

You know, I never saw the movie until I went to college (crazy, I know!) but I couldn’t get enough of it once I saw it.

The house is gorgeous, though I’m wondering how it would feel to live in such a fish bowl? It looks like the trees give you plenty of privacy, but I still think it’d make me a bit self conscious.

    Averill,

I can’t believe you made it all the way until college without seeing the movie!! I’m glad you finally took the plunge, though. :)

That’s a great point about the lack of privacy – it may be one of those houses that looks fab but isn’t really livable. I would probably freak out a bit at night with all of those windows (but that might just be my own paranoia). Maybe I won’t buy it after all . . . :)

I’ve seen that movie too many times to count. Love it. And love that house. Maybe they have or you could install privacy blinds that come down at the touch of a button!

That is hilarious! Can’t believe you found this one. Wow…I every time it is on TV I can’t resist watching it. “When Cameron was in Egypt’s land…” Gosh, I better turn on the TV now to see if it’s on!
