(Design) Identity Crisis

Not too long ago, I had my interior design style nailed – I liked traditional decor, punched up with splashes of bold color.  Very Pottery Barn-esque.

(Design) Identity Crisis

Fast forward eight months, and I still love that style but now I’m feeling . . . restless.  A little confused.  Excited.  And maybe ready for a little change?

You see, one of the perks of blogging about interior design (and all that other good stuff) is that I’m constantly seeing fabulous images of drool-inducing rooms.  Images that don’t fit so neatly into the tidy little box that I thought contained my entire design style.

What’s a girl to do?  I’m thinking it might be time for a little change, don’t you?

P.S.  Sorry guys, because of the long weekend we won’t be doing the Inspiration Tuesday blog party this week.  But get your posts ready for next week!!

Oh I love all those rooms too Liz – the bold wall colors and bookcases galore speak to me. Can’t wait to see if you switch things up a bit in your home!!

OK I had my party post all ready to go and then…no party :(

I’ll save it for next week :)

Also, I just said the same thing to my girlfriend over the weekend. How I decorated my house 18 months ago..heck even a year ago, is totally different than how I would do it now. I find everything is really dark and heavy. Probably because I didn’t know better.

Hey guys! I’m glad I’m not the only one that flip-flops around between design styles! I’m busy thinking up changes, and I’ll keep you posted. :)

      Kristina,

I promise the blog party will be back next week! :) Can’t wait to see your post!

I love these colorful rooms. I think that design style like fashion style continually evolve based on a lot of factors and time can change it just like anything else. There was a time when I wanted my bedroom to be bright and colorful and now I can’t wait to make it calming and full of texture. Changing things in your house make it fun and keep it from getting stale!

I love all of these rooms — and I think I know what you’re going through as I went through a similar brain shift about a year ago. After seeing all of the eclectic, hard-to-put-your-finger-on-it rooms featured on so many wonderful blogs, I’ve come to decide that I’m looking for something just a bit…well, different. A bit traditional, with a hit of Hollywood glamour, with a good dose of color, metallics and fun. Ciao Pottery Barn!
