Did you guys have a great Labor Day weekend??  My hubby and I got to sneak away for four days to Ruidoso, New Mexico – and even though I’m playing catch up like crazy today, the relaxing weekend made the craziness totally worth it!

Every year, we spend Labor Day weekend in Ruidoso with Jason’s family at their cozy house right on the bend of the river – I can’t tell you how awesome it is to sit on their huge front porch, listening to the water and catching glimpses of deer strolling by:

The hummingbirds and gorgeous flowers aren’t too shabby, either:

One day, we moseyed over to the Inn of the Mountain Gods for a little paddle-boat action – it was a beautiful and fun way to spend the morning!

And you really just can’t beat the view:

When we weren’t relaxing or stuffing our faces, you could find us at the race track.  Watching horse racing has always been a huge way that Jason and his grandfather bond, and Jason’s grandfather even had a horse racing on Saturday!  We didn’t get to take a trip to the winner’s circle this time, but a second place finish isn’t too bad!

All the fans in the crowd were super excited because this year’s Kentucky Derby winner, Mine That Bird, lead the post parade for the All-American Futurity, the big million dollar race of the weekend.  Good stuff!

So that was my weekend!  How was yours?

Great weekend photos!! My Husband and 5 other couples celebrated Labor Day at a Sunset Picnic overlooking the ocean in Laguna Beach, CA. It was spectacular!!

What a terrific weekend! Looks like so much fun!

Gosh, that looks like a relaxing weekend! We were painting, replacing window screens, and scrubbing the shower tile. You win!

I like what you’re doing wiht the blog – I made my way over here from Young House Love and have been lurking for a bit. You’ve done amazing things to your house!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time! My long weekend wasn’t too exciting, but it was pretty hectic: went wedding dress shopping for my sister, went to a wedding of a good friend, bought a sofa, and watched A LOT of tennis.

PS – Love the pedicure! ;)

We spent some time at the beach with my parents and then came home and ate enchiladas non-stop for two days. :-)

Sounds like you guys had fun. I love anything that involves horses – how cool that the Derby winner was there! Neat-o!

I spent the weekend painting the walls of my ski condo…not as much fun as yours!

Averill,

I’ve discovered that life is much better with hot pink toenails. :)

Lindsey,

Thanks, it’s been a lot of fun! Guys, if you’re itching for a slew of great before and afters be sure to swing by Lindsey’s blog!

Christy,

Mmmm, enchiladas – I’m so jealous!

Terrific pictures. I can’t believe you saw deer in the yard!

Wow, you had an incredible weekend. That view can’t be beat!

We ripped carpet out of the living room of our house. That’s fun too – in a “We’re glad that’s finally out” type of way! At least we made use of the extra day off!

Liz September 11, 2009

Erin,

Ooh, that’s an excellent weekend!! What are you putting down in place of the carpet in the living room? How fun, I’m sure it’s going to look great! :)

Hi! It’s so nice seeing Ruidoso! We used to live in Roswell. We lived there for 10 years and enjoyed so much driving up the mountain.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Shelia,

How lucky to have lived near such a beautiful spot!! We fly in and out of Roswell now that American Airlines has opened up flights and my husband’s cousins went to NMMI, so we’ve gotten to see a bit of Roswell over the years. Can’t wait til next year! :)
