What a great idea, Liz! What I like best about Thanksgiving is that there’s all that good food and none of the stress of holiday gift exchanges! This year we’ve got Dave’s folks coming into town and we’ll be doing our first big joint-family Thanksgiving! Should be entertaining!

Oh, you clever girl. LOVE your polished pumpkins – they just pop on your white dishes. Simple, and beautiful ! I am starting a new tradition of writing down what we are thankful for every year, then keeping them in a scrapbook or journal of some kind. It will be fun to look back on it in the future.

Another way to help myself and also personalize my Thanksgiving table is to have guests bring a side dish (obviously the part that helps me) which, according to their own holiday tradition, is absolutely critical to have on the menu. That way, if I would NEVER in a million years make marshmallow sweet potatoes and they can’t imagine enjoying the meal without it, they will have it.

Love your emphasis on the giving thanks spirit of Thanksgiving.

Oh, and I don’t personalize Thanksgiving…but we do bring British traditions home for the Christmas holidays! English crackers (with hats and toys inside them!), cider, and yorkshire puddings. MMM MMM GOOD!
