It Feels Like A Fiesta

2010 January 6

Even though I’m not a huge football fan, I was beyond excited when we got tickets to this:

Phoenix & Fiesta Bowl

It meant that we got to go to Phoenix (I’ve never been) and stay here!

Phoenix & Fiesta Bowl

Our room was perfect . . .

Phoenix & Fiesta Bowl

. . . and in our down time I got to catch up on my reading . . .

Phoenix & Fiesta Bowl

. . .  soak in this gorgeous view from our balcony . . .

Phoenix & Fiesta Bowl

. . . and lay by the pool.  (Yes, it was pool weather on the 3rd of January!!)

Phoenix & Fiesta Bowl

Even though we were busy bees . . .

Phoenix & Fiesta Bowl

I made sure to stop and smell the roses.  Oops, I meant the cactus!

Phoenix & Fiesta Bowl

Although we had some fancy meals, I think our stop here was my fave . . .

Phoenix & Fiesta Bowl

. . . which we hit up on the way here:

Phoenix & Fiesta Bowl

We had such an awesome time!!

What about you guys – have you ever been to a bowl game?

Oooh I’m jealous! Though since I’m a TCU fan, I would’ve hated to see them lose after such a great season.

The only bowl I’ve ever been to is the Texas Bowl (which was formerly the GalleryFurniture.com Bowl) here in Houston (saw TCU v. A&M one year and TCU v. UH the other).

    Averill,

We were there to cheer on TCU – my sister-in-law went to TCU and she was with us, so it was definitely a bummer that they lost! We were glad that it was a close game to the end, and it was awesome to see so many fans out there to support the school. So fun that you’re a TCU fan, too!

Oh I’m so jealous! My family is in Phoenix, I lived in Phoenix and we just spent Thanksgiving in Phoenix and still I’m so jealous! I LOVE it there and crave to be back there. Ironically, I also live here in Dallas now (in the Rockwall area) and I’m growing quite fond of it here. I just found your blog today and am amazed by your renovations! I need you to come “flip” my house except we’re still going to live here! So basically, I guess I just need your decorating expertise! And if you have any suggestions on cool things to see in the area, that would be greatly appreciated…lol

What a great trip! How long were you there for?

Glad you enjoyed Phoenix. :) I’m from Phoenix and my husband and I actually stayed at the Phoenican the night of our wedding. I don’t think it was that great compared to some other resorts I’ve been to in Phoenix though.

    Kristy,

    Welcome to Dallas!! :) I can see why you miss Phoenix, I was blown away by how gorgeous all of the nature is there and how vibrant the city is. I think you’ll find that Dallas isn’t too shabby, though – my friend Ali just moved here from NYC and she’s taking this town by storm – check out her blog for some great ideas of things to do in the area! {http://alidoesdallas.blogspot.com/}

Also, if you’d like to get some suggestions on your house from me and the IGTBH readers, we’d love it if you’d send in some pics!

    Meredith,

We got in late Saturday night (bedtime) and left oh-so-early Tuesday morning (although we didn’t get home until 12 hours later!!). It was a quick trip, but definitely long enough to feel like a vacation. :)

    Steph Anne,

What a great place to stay on your wedding night! I’d love to hear your suggestions for other places to stay in Phoenix, maybe we’ll be able to check them out next time. :)

Wow! Lucky you! I’ve been to Phoenix once, but would like to go again. Looks like you had a great time!

I’ve also never been to a bowl game, but I’m a big college football fan so I’d love to!

Wow that sounds like an incredible weekend! Lucky you! I don’t watch football, but since I went to grad school at the University of Florida, I was sort of compelled to get into it and even went to a couple of games – so much fun!

Thanks Liz! I really do like it alot here. I’m definitely going to check out your friend’s blog…especially since she’s from NYC! I was born and raised in NJ and I miss going to NYC so badly. I moved to Phoenix when I was 20 thinking it would be alot like NYC…imagine my surprise!!

Never been to a bowl game, but I have stayed at The Phoenician before. I recognized it immediately from the pictures. Isn’t it LOVELY?!? I just wanted to move there permanently. Doesn’t hurt that the weather is so great out there year round.
