I have a paint question if you don’t mind answering it. We want to paint our bathrooms. Glidden recommends semi-gloss but a friend said we should use paint specifically desginated as “bathroom paint.” Is this the same thing or is there a specific product on the market for bathrooms that I just haven’t found?
Thanks!
ML,
Great question!! Typically, paint with a semi-gloss finish is recommended for bathrooms because it holds up really well to water splashes and can be easily cleaned. Kitchen and bath paint is a type of paint, not a finish, and it has an additive that makes it more resistant to mold and mildew. If mold and mildew haven’t been problems for you in your bathroom, you would be just fine with a regular interior paint in a semi-gloss finish.
All of that being said, I shy away from the shinier finish of semi-gloss paint, and save it for trim and cabinets. We’re rebels and went for a flat finish throughout the entire house (gasp!!) and we haven’t had any problems. :) I’m sure that would be a different story if we had kids!
Hope that helps!

Your so nice! Thanks…I have a large painting project that i’m stating this weekend, this will be a nice help :)
I didn’t get that in my inbox – but how cool is that?
I love the almost aqua and smoky charcoal — great colors!
PS – I went with a eggshell finish in our bathroom and it’s great. Much more washable than flat but way more forgiving of our less than perfect walls.
