While I often find myself swooning over breezy, whitewashed interiors decorated in muted shades, I have to admit that deep down I’m just not cut out to live in a space like that.

I like color. I like vibrancy and energy. I like happy rooms that make me smile. And I really like my kitchen.

It’s where we hang out, laugh at each others stupid jokes, create our attempts at dinner, and bond with our family and friends.

Sure, there are things I would change about it, things I would do differently the next time I design a kitchen – but all in all, it makes me happy every time I walk into our kitchen.

What space in your home is your happy place? Hope you have a great weekend!

I love your kitechen! I even got a few decorating ideas just looking at it! I think my living room is my happy place. It’s where we hang out the most :)

My favorite (at the moment) is my bedroom, mostly because I’m finally done painting it. But as soon as my craft room is finished, I know that’s where my heart will be.
I too love seeing breezy, relaxing rooms covered in white, but always find myself picking out bold accents when walking through stores. I really like the pops of orange on your couch!

OH your kitchen is beautiful! Love it, and those glass tiles + pops of bold color = lovely. For me, I’d have to say right now my happy place in my own home is the basement (unusual, I know) mostly because it’s the only space that is 90% finished, boasts the only tv in the house, surround sound, a bar, plenty of sunlight, and where we chill, eat dinner, have our own little date nights, or party with friends. Although, as our kitchen continues to get done bit-by-bit, I’m sure that will soon be my next favorite space. :)

Your kitchen and family room are awesome and oh how I’d love to visit and hang out there with you!
I love our living room…when it’s not overrun with kids toys and a dog bed! Unfortunately, I have a feeling it’s going to be that way for a looong time so I might as well get used to it! ha! Have a great weekend Liz!

I adore your kitchen and the way it looks and is designed I think you did an amazing job!! I would love to have a kitchen like yours, its big and so open :)
I agree with you, I love the muted rooms but I also love color!! The pic of you and your husband is so pretty, we need more details about your happy day!
Rooms in my house that make me happy, I love our living room and the birght pops of color its slowing evolving oiver time which is perfect for us. I also love our tiny dining room – it does have a lot of white, but only becasue it makes it look larger and brighter and really chill. I love eating dinner in the dining room and relaxing on the sofa with the ‘fam bam’ ;)

This is absolutely beautiful!! I wish that we had an open space like this for our kitchen/bar area :)
I love your kitchen/living room too!! It is a very happy place :)
My happy place is the same thing in my house… the open kitchen/living room, where we spend all our time.
I have two happy places in my home. One is our big round breakfast room table when all the family is home and we are just enjoying being together. The breakfast room has yellow walls, flowered curtains, and the walls are filled with blue and white pottery.
My other happy place is when I am alone and in my “creative/craft” mode. I have my scanner for playing with family photos, all my stained glass stuff, wrapping paper, tons of scrapbooking paper, rubber stamps and so on. This room is plain white, but has four big windows where I have my stained and beveled glass pieces hanging.
I am a lucky duck to have both places!
My favorite place is my craft room. Everything about the room is totally me and no one else.
(Love your back splash BTW! What color tile is that? Kinda like subway tile?)

Kristina,
Yep, our backsplash is a kind of glass subway tile! Here’s the link, it’s the moss staggered 3 x 6: http://www.arizonatile.com/SKYLIGHTS-GLASS-P776C141.aspx. :)

Would you please share your tan/beige paint color – do you use the same shade in your home and the houses you flip. I have brought home so many samples. Sometimes they can look pink or peach. Sometimes they can look too yellow or gold. Sometimes they can even look a little lavendar…..oh the pain of finding a perfect tan/beige. The color of the walls in your home and flipped houses just looks perfect; and I hope you will share what you use. Also noticed a beautiful pale green in some bathrooms that I love. Thank you for your help!!!
I know, paint colors are so tricky!! Here is a link to a post that talks about the paint colors we used in our home. http://itsgreattobehome.net/2009/04/01/paint-by-numbers/ Happy painting!
