Upcoming Projects

Over the weekend I noticed that two of my bloggy friends are undertaking awesome projects that have made their way around the blogosphere – and now I can’t resist joining in!

And, of course, now I have to tell you all about it.  :)  Maybe you’ll want to join in the fun, too?

Project #1 – 111 Things in 1/11

First up is the “111 things in 1/11” project that I first spied on Kim’s blog (and that she found on Jenny’s blog).

111 Things in 1/11

The basic idea is pretty simple – rid your house of loads of junk by donating, tossing, selling or recycling 111 things within the first month of this year.  Sounds kinda fun, right?

I could definitely stand to declutter and get rid of all the goodies that I never ever use.  I’m already up to 28 pieces of clothing that need to get the boot, and I’m just warming up.  Jason is crossing his fingers that some nicknacks and other clutter will also be kicked to the curb!  We’ll see about that.  :)

My plan is to round up everything that I want to get rid of and then divide it into piles – clothes going to Plato’s Closet or getting donated, household items going on Craigslist or getting donated, etc.  I’m getting kind of revved up about it!

Project #2 – Project 365

Now onto the next project!  I came upon Project 365 through my friend Tessa’s blog (and she found it via Dine & Dish).  I’m particularly excited about this one since it’s a photography project and a time capsule all rolled into one.

All this project requires is for you to take a photograph of a moment in your life every single day of the year.  It sounds easy, but I think it will actually be quite a challenge to remember to take all those pictures!  (Or at least it has been so far).  :)

I’m also going to take this project as an opportunity to work on my photography skills with my new camera, which I’m really looking forward to.  The pictures I’ve taken so far have definitely not been my best, but hopefully they’ll get better!

( My mom took the first pic – I think that’s allowed, don’t you? )

I’m debating whether or not to write a little caption to go with each photo, or just go from memory.  I’m not sure which way I’ll opt for yet.

Do you have any new projects on the horizon?  Want to join me in either 111 in 1/11 or Project 365?  We can keep each other on the straight and narrow.  :)

Oh heck ya! The 111 in 1/11 sounds awesome. I will start this weekend and report back! And I love the 365 project — a couple of my friends have done that!

The 365 Project is the one where I’m wondering if I can stick with it – seriously, 365 days in a row of remembering to do something?!? That would be a first for ol’ Liz. :) We’ll see how it goes!

  2. Love it! The 365 project will be amazing, and what a fun photo book to make at the end of the year. A friend of mine is doing hers on FB and everyone’s going nuts over it.

Excited about the 111 things in 1/11, too. Glad you are joining in. I’m pretty sure I’m already up to 111, but that’s only if I count the ornaments individually. I don’t think I should do that. ;) Some of my friends are actually inheriting the Christmas decor, but it’s still leaving the house so it counts. Yay! Decluttering!

  5. What great ideas! I definitely need to get rid of some clutter!

I’m so about the 111 in 1/11! I’ve already started…sent a box of stuff off to Goodwill yesterday and have three bags of clothes to be picked up by a donation drive this Thursday. I can’t believe how much stuff my husband and I have accumulated in just 3 years! And now with a baby it’s about 10 times worse. Trying to keep things as simple as possible!

I’m so impressed, you’re way ahead of me! And I know, our junk-to-length-of-marriage ratio is way out of whack!

Liz, I just started my third year of Project 365! I LOVE it! It can be difficult to keep up with it, but sometimes I take pictures of random little things in our lives to fill the blank spots. I have captured a lot of neat little moments. I use the kit by Becky Higgins, she sells it on amazon.com (It’s called Project Life), it is so great, you slip the picture in the pocket and fill out a neat little journaling card (or not) and you are done. Good Luck! Wirh Project 365, and more inportantly selling your beautiful house!!
