So remember how one of my goals for sprucing up our home was to add this snazzy capiz lotus chandelier to the entryway?

Well I did it! I ordered that sucker on Sunday night and I got it for a great deal. This was the only version that would fit in our entryway (10 inches all the way around) without whacking people in the head as they walked under it, and as a bonus it was also the cheapest option by far ($162 versus $300+).
Let me tell you – I was one excited chickie awaiting its arrival. And then I got this email last night:
WHAT?!?!? Nooooooo! So they’ve been letting people order this chandelier for a year without being able to fulfill their orders? Insanity, that’s what I say.
So now I’m back to square one. I still love this chandelier and would love to put the larger size somewhere else in my home – the only other place I can think of is the dining room, but I think it would probably look funny (too small) in there.
(The lighting is a little wonky in there this morning, please disregard.)
The room is 11.9 ft x 12.9 ft, and the current chandelier is 2 feet wide. Do you think a 16 inch wide lotus chandelier would look funny in there? And we won’t always have that round table – once my aunt’s stepson gets married next year that antique set will go to live with him. So we may have a rectangular table someday.
And what would we do in the entryway? I had my heart set on that beauty.
What’s a girl to do?

What a bummer! Seems crazy that they’ve been running their business like that for so long.
Seriously!!
Hmmm what about in your bedroom? Candice Olsen is always putting chandeliers in bedrooms! I couldn’t live without our ceiling fan, personally, though.
I do think that it would still look cool in your dining room! – we have a teeny tiny chandelier in ours and it looks fab, in my humble opinion. :)
I know, I LOVE the way chandeliers look in bedrooms but I’m like you, I need my ceiling fan!! :)
What a total let down! The price was great and the chandelier is beautiful. I guess maybe you can buy the larger size chandelier and put it in the dining room and you will have happy meals everyday, don’t you think? (I am totally not thinking McDonald’s happy meals when I wrote this! :-) )

A year?? Geez! Have you checked around for a close substitute? It is a really cool look.

Oh bummer! It’s so cute too! Maybe it’d be worth a try in the dining room is you love it that much. However, I’m thinking your instict about it looking small might be true! Maybe over a soaking tub? Keep your eyes peeled! Something will come your way!
So funny you love this light…me too! I just blogged about it yesterday! You can find them at Potterybarn.com as well as ebay has a few (I was scoping them out the other day).

I know it’s a bit more then the amazing deal you *thought* you got, but it’s still under $300
good luck!
BUMM.ER.
I think the lotus chandelier would look great in the dining area, though, and add some fun visual interest. Seems like it would play well with the mirror in there (yay for playing well with others). Might soften a rectangular table , too. Looking forward to seeing whatever you decide to do!
I share your irritation and frustration with Island Woods. Nothing like wasting time and effort to make one feel appreciated. Keep looking; I know the perfect thing will come along and you will eventually be pleased the capiz light did not work. . . maybe.
Wow that is really unprofessional of them! I love that zebra print rug though–I hope that stays when you redecorate the room :)

Man, that sucks. I think the bigger one is too small for the dining room :( There’s no smaller ones to be had on ebay? Put the big one in a bedroom?
What a bummer! But, seriously? What kind of company lets this happen FOR A YEAR???? That is ridiculous and bizarre.
I hope you find something comparable. Nothing can be easy!
Super super sad face. :( I will keep an eye out for something else you might like! I have my own lotus story (posting about it tomorrow), but I’m totally bummed yours didn’t have a happier ending. I’m with you on thinking the chandelier might be too small in your dining room, but I do like the other suggestions of using it in a different room. Do you have a powder room or closet that could use a huge statement pendant like this one?

I just saw your lotus and I am swooning!! I agree, I think I need to give up on my lotus dreams until another opportunity presents itself. Sigh.
Aw, that’s too bad! It was a really pretty piece. Maybe you’ll see it again with some luck!

Boo! That totally stinks. I bet another version will pop up online somewhere. I’ll let you know if I come across anything.
