New Wing Chairs In Our Den!

I know I’ve already gushed about them here and here, but I haven’t shown you the full enchilada – our new wing chairs in their new home in our den!!

New West Elm Wing Chairs

I seriously could not be more THRILLED with them!!  I feel like the bold splash of peacock blue (not really teal like I called them before) really pulls the whole den/kitchen/breakfast nook together.  Which is actually a pretty impressive feat for two wing chairs.

That side of the room really needed some height, so the taller backs of the wing chairs paired with the leaning mirror (formerly in our bedroom) adds some verticality that draws your eye towards our vaulted ceiling.

You may have noticed a few other new additions – like the tripod table between the wing chairs and an aluminum table by the couch (you’ll see it in other photos).  Before we got these tables the only surface we had for drinks, etc. in the den was the coffee table – and then we moved the coffee table in front of the other couch (because it looks better layout-wise) so Jason and I didn’t have anywhere to put our food/drinks/feet while we were watching TV, which just wouldn’t do.  :)  The new tables have been fab!

And, of course, change begets change and now I’m itching for new pillows in the den.  :)  Isn’t it funny how that happens?

I definitely dig the new view from the kitchen.

And the peacock blue wing chairs balance out the blue from the DIY squiggle art on the other side of the den.

Oh!  How could I forget our new pouf and basket??  I’m officially obsessed with the basket – before we got it there were piles of junk all over the coffee table, but now I can just cram everything into the basket and nobody is the wiser.  Tricky.

And if I’m really being honest, this is how the room looks most of the time – I have stolen the aluminum side table and claimed it as my computer/drink receptacle, and Jason is a huge fan of the pouf for foot-propping purposes.

What do you guys think?!?  Have you made any changes to your home lately that have made you as happy as the new wing chairs have made me?  And what about that domino-effect where you make one improvement to the room and suddenly there are a hundred other things you want to change – am I alone on that one?

By the way, I may have made a few other changes in addition to the wing chairs, new layout, basket, pouf, leaning mirror and new side tables.  Somebody stop me!

P.S.  Happy birthday to my awesome hubby today!!!!

I LOVE the new wingback chairs. The color and the shape are perfect! As are all the other changes- I want to get a pouf so bad but I have yet to find one I like that’s not crazy $$$!

Oh- and the domino effect is so true. We just bought a new loveseat and now the chairs next to it look dinky, so they are now #1 on my ever growing list! Also, I just wanted to let you know that I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award:

Adore those fabulous wingback chairs. Also love the tripod table, pouf and rug. Is that rug new? I really like it. Did you get your pouf from CB2? I have always wanted a pouf but at $90 before tax (from CB2) it is a little too much for me but I really love how the red pouf energizes your room.

You are right. Sometimes when you get one new thing in a room, you feel like changing everything else in the room. So, you are not alone in that department! :)

Happy Birthday to your hubby! Hope he had fun today!

We’ve actually had the rug for a few years but it definitely LOOKS like a whole new rug with the new scheme going on in here – it’s the Pottery Barn Moorish Tile rug that we got on Ebay. As for the pouf, World Market carries a virtually identical pouf to the CB2 one and the price is a little better (I think ours was $69) and I was in a buying mood, ha! :)

The chairs are AWESOME! And I’m with you on the whole domino effect. It’s going on at my house too.

  5. The chairs are amazing! Love the color blue!

  6. It looks perfect – love the chairs in the space! All the other new things look great as well – the two side tables are the cutest and I have that pouf in grey and it’s the greatest thing ever.

Although I do miss your awesome gallery wall – and it would still look great behind the two wing chairs! Unless you have another place for them in the house? :)

I kind of miss the gallery wall, too! I’ve started another one (more photo oriented) in our hallway, but I don’t get to see it all the time. Hmmmm…….

I love how the vibrancy of the chairs seem to reflect in the whole area of your den. Works well with your rug as well, love the rugs btw. :)

  10. these look amazing! It’s so amazing to see how just one addition can tie a whole space together. and you are totally right about the height…it really MAKES that corner! and the peacock blue is to.die.for.

  11. Wow, those look perfect in your room. Nice choice!! I also want one of those big leaning mirrors somewhere in my house….

  12. Jennifer says:

Those are amazing! How did you come up with the idea to purchase blue? Its beautiful. The blue does not match anything yet it matches perfectly! Great , great job on this room!

I bet they feel really good when you sit on them. And the big mirror is insane. I want one also.
