Paint!! And Landscaping!!

We’re getting there!  The exterior of the house is slowing being tamed.

When we bought the flip back on June 2nd it looked like this:

A Special Date

And now, after some landscaping, a new roof, new windows, a new stained front door and a coat of paint on the bricks, it looks like this:

Paint!! And Landscaping!!

Yes, there’s plastic over the windows, we still need shutters and the soffit hasn’t been painted, but we’ll get there!

Jason and I have started our marathon lawn-watering sessions – 33 days of 100+ degree heat have NOT been kind to the grass.  We’re hoping we can resuscitate the grass, so cross your fingers for us!  Are you guys melting in this heat, too?

P.S. My car’s thermometer read 128 degrees the other day!  That is insane.

A Gray Day

The day has finally come to choose the new paint color for my office!!

I decided to take the plunge and revamp my office after a rep for Dutch Boy paints contacted me a few weeks ago about trying out a sample of their Refresh paint line – woohoo!!  That was just the kick in the pants I needed to get me going!  I’m extra excited to be trying this paint line because it’s zero-VOC so I won’t be hurting my body or the environment when I use it {big props to Dutch Boy for that!}.

I’ve decided to go with gray walls {see this post}, but now the hard part – what shade??  After much deliberation I narrowed it down to four choices, and I think I finally picked a winner.

Route 66 in a flat finish – it’s a gray with a fair bit of brown in it so it should look dynamite next to the beige carpet and wood desk that I already have in the room.

I can’t wait to start the transformation!  Seriously, my office is in such a state that I can’t even bring myself to show you a pic right now – no joking.  I’m excited to take the first step into turning it into an office that I truly love to spend time in.  Hopefully I’ll have my new paint in a few weeks!

Do you have any room revamps on the horizon?  Or maybe you’ve just finished one!!  Fill us in on the details, or maybe send it in to Show Off Your Space!

Hob Knobbing

One project on my never-ending to do list is to refinish a cute wood dresser in our guest room.  It used to live in my bedroom when I was growing up and I’ve had it for about as long as I can remember.  The dresser has seen better days – the white paint is chipping and discolored, the knobs are not-so-cute-shiny-faux-brass – but the dresser is still solid and has a lot of good years left in it.

Anyhoo, that sucker needs to be gussied up.  A new paint job is definitely in the works, and I’m contemplating some new hardware.  I’ll probably just wind up spray painting the existing hardware {knobs get expensive!}, but in the meantime I’m enjoying dreaming of gorgeous, luxurious knobs like these from Anthropologie:

Maybe I’ll switch out the knobs on the nightstands with one of these – I can stomach buying 2 knobs much better than buying 6!  Which one of them strikes your fancy?
