You have to promise not to judge my husband if I agree to tell you his favorite thing about our house – promise?? Ok, here goes.

It’s our kitchen sink. No fair, you said you wouldn’t judge!!!

Ok, now that you’ve recovered let me explain a little. The bottom line is that our kitchen sink is actually pretty awesome. It’s huge. It’s deep. I can fit the dishes from an entire dinner in that sucker all at the same time. Let’s take a look at our schmancy sink:

Ain’t she a beaut?? You may be surprised that we went for a single bowl sink instead of one of the double-bowl sinks that seem to be so common these days. Well, we had a double-bowl sink in our townhouse but it turned out that the allure of the double bowl was completely lost on us – were we supposed to be soaking dishes? Do other people have smaller pots that actually fit in those sinks? Aren’t other people annoyed that there’s only a disposal on one side?? These were the questions that we asked ourselves, and it turns out that a single bowl just fits our lifestyle better. It’s so huge (29 inches long, 16 inches wide, and 10 inches deep to be exact) that we can actually have dirty dishes on one side while we rinse dishes on the other, all without that pesky bowl-divider getting in the way – delightful, I tell you.

Those are full-sized dinner plates!! And the fact that it’s an undermount is priceless. Cleanup is a breeze with this sink – just swipe all those crumbs into the sink, and you don’t even have to worry about the edge of the sink getting grimy. The final irresistible feature of our sink is that it’s stainless, a fact that I was quick to appreciate while I was using the white, porcelain kitchen sink at my parents’ house when they were so kind as to let us stay there while our house was being remodeled (thanks Mom & Dad!!!). No offense to their lovely triple-bowl sink, but it had to constantly be cleaned because practically anything left marks on the porcelain and the triple-bowl feature was a bit of a pain because the smallest bowl was the one with the disposal in it – where’s the logic in that?

Now that you’ve heard about my husband’s odd love for our sink (ok, I love it too), what feature of your kitchen are you strangely proud of? What’s your stance on the number of bowls that a sink should have – are you a one-bowler like us, a two-bowler or one of those rare triple-bowlers?
